Nearly 47% of recipient households have at least one person working, yet 78% of the households live under the Federal Poverty Level. Over 50 % of the house holds receive Food Stamps, but 2/3 of the households receiving Food Stamps run out of stamps within the first two weeks of the month.
*The Hunger Factors Assessment shows that the majority of households only access pantries 1-3 times per year.
How much did we receive?
A 38% decrease in food from Jo Co Food Bank down since this time last year and with a 45% increase in food costs our donor base has decreased by 20% and only reports of further decrease in availability with no change in sight.
Our funding base has not increased to meet the demands. Our numbers are rising but the donations are not as everyone tightens their belts.
Who can help?
Anyone! There are a variety of ways to help. Donations of money, food and time are some of the most tangible ways. We have over 61 volunteers working over 400 hours a month.
